8/12/17 - A fundraiser is planned today for a local non-profit that helps those who find themselves without a place to call home. MUTED 2017 is a music festival that will benefit the New Beginnings Homeless Shelter, which operates two housing units – one for men located near the former Saint Michaels and another for women located near First Lutheran Church. Committee Chair for music for the fundraiser Jeff Smith says MUTED stands for musicians united to end displacement. He says there will be plenty of music acts during the event such as a Willie Nelson impersonator, Rob & the Rest, the Characters, Smith’s band Rock Collector, and Mozart’s Cadillac. There will be a dunk tank, games for kids, food, and sporting competitions at the fundraiser. Event organizer Cassie Schmidt says they will also be raffling off several different items. She says there will be an autographed football from the Green Bay Packers, four Milwaukee Bucks tickets, two Brewers tickets, 10 drum or guitar lessons from B & D Music, plus more. Muted 2017 will run from 11pm to 9pm today at Swan City Park in Beaver Dam. The event is free but attendees are asked to bring non-perishable food items.
