9/12/17 - The City of Mayville is once again looking for a new candidate to fill the vacant police chief position. Just three weeks after offering the job to interim Chief Ryan Vossekuil, the 15-year veteran with the department has rejected the council’s contract. Mayor Rob Boelk says the city will move on in their efforts to find their next police chief. He says he will send a letter to the Police and Fire Commission to search for another applicant. Boelk says the council offered Vossekuil a fair and reasonable contract and he turned it down. Vossekuil was not immediately available for comment. Boelk was not aware if there were any candidates in line after Vossekuil and says there is no timetable right now on filling the positon. The opening was created when former Police Chief Chris MacNeill resigned in March amidst allegations of wrong doing in office after 17 years in the department. MacNeill allegedly altered documents in 2011 to help the son of a Mayville police officer, and current Cudahy Police Chief Thomas Poellot, get into the army.
