9/13/17 - Church Health Services has secured a $30-thousand-dollar grant for its dental services. The Beaver Dam-based non-profit has assisted low income, uninsured and underinsured individuals with general health coverage for nearly a quarter century. Since their dental clinic opened in 2014, the program has provided dental services to low-income individuals on a sliding fee scale, including seniors and veterans. The clinic also provides care to families with Medicaid and BadgerCare. Insurance carrier Delta Dental of Wisconsin awarded $30-thousand dollars to Church Health to replace a panoramic X-ray machine and to support outreach dental services to area Amish schools. By increasing access to care, Executive Director Thea O’Connor says Church Health Services furthers its reach into an underserved population. In Dodge County alone, there are about 14-thousand residents at or below 200-percent of the federal poverty level. She says the agency is a vital part of reaching those who may not have had dental care in the past. O’Connor says the grant funding will allow them to continue to provide critical dental services to those in need.
